What is a "Circuit"?

When referring to "circuits" or "circuit requests" in PEAK 4.0, this is essentially the link between PEAK and APT.

The PEAK 4.0 system will be rolled out in stages, not all at once. As various pieces and functions are completed, they will go live for use by customers, carriers, and Ascent agents. While this is happening, APT will continue to be live and in use as well. Once PEAK 4.0 is completed, Ascent will transition to PEAK completely, and APT will become defunct.

While both systems are running concurrently, data will need to flow back and forth between them. This is accomplished using "circuits." For example, when an order is entered in PEAK 4.0, a "circuit request" will cause that order to flow over to APT, and once completed, that order will be visible and interactable in both systems. If that order is updated, notes are entered, etc. (whether in APT or PEAK), circuits will ensure those updates, notes, and changes are reflected in both APT and PEAK 4.0.

When entering an order or making changes in PEAK 4.0, those changes should be reflected in APT in near real time. However, when making changes or updates in APT, it may take up to 2 minutes for them to be reflected back in PEAK.

Until operations have fully migrated to PEAK 4.0, we will still be using APT as the "source of truth". This means that all data entered in PEAK will be checked against data saved in APT for accuracy, and ensures we do not end up with multiple conflicting databases.

Circuit History

In PEAK 4.0 orders, there is a tab labeled "Circuit History". This shows actions that have happened in the order and whether they have circuited between PEAK and APT.

Here you can see which actions in the shipment result in circuit requests; whether the circuit has completed, failed, or is still in progress; and the date and time of each circuit request.
